David Heyman — who produced all eight Potter films — said the movie
will be a “modern take” on the best-selling children’s books.
He said: “I’m so delighted at this chance.
“Paddington is a universally loved character, treasured for his
optimism, his sense of fair play and his perfect manners, and of course
for his unintentional talent for comic chaos.”
Paddington — famous for his duffle coat and love of marmalade
sandwiches — was created by Michael Bond and made his debut in 1958. His
books have sold more than 35 million copies.
He was named after the London station where he was found after leaving Peru, and adopted by the Brown family.
The animated BBC series Paddington was broadcast from 1975.
