Have you dreamed of scoring a dream date with Carmen Electra?
How about "The Situation"? Tempting, right? Take a number.
Or, more
likely, wait for these stars to take a spinning seat on the new summer
reality dating show on Fox, "The Choice," where eligible single celebrities meet and choose regular folks to date.
Taking its cues from the popular NBC hit "The Voice," viewers will also see four celebrity contestants, blind auditions, and, yes, those spinning chairs.
Cat Deeley
will host the show that will feature four celebs sitting, "Voice"
style, with their backs to their potential dates describing themselves.
(Not by singing, we assume.) If the bachelor or bachelorette hears
something they like, they pull a "love handle" (not the body part, but
an actual contraption), which spins the chair around to face the desired
single.
If more than one celeb pulls their love handle for the same single,
they go into speed rounds where the single must choose which celeb to
side with. The rounds progress until one celeb chooses a lucky (?)
single for a date -- just one date.
Mike Darnell, president of alternative entertainment at Fox, said of the
new show he created, "We wanted to put a new spin on the dating game
show that gives celebrities the 'Choice' of a lifetime and the chance to
prove you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover."
No, but you can judge it by the celebrities who have joined on. According to Entertainment Weekly,
bachelors will include Joe Jonas, actor Dean Cain, model Tyson
Beckford, "American Idol" alum Taylor Hicks, Pauly D and Mike "The
Situation" Sorrentino from "Jersey Shore," Rob Kardashian, former NFL star Warren Sapp, and more.
There's a way shorter list of bachelorettes. Aside from Electra, there
will be former Miss USA Rima Fakih, model Hope Dworaczyk, and singer
Sophie Monk. See, we told you it was short.
"The Choice" debuts June 7 on Fox.
