One Direction confirmed to headline this year’s iTunes festival

We’ve got some great news, all you One Direction super-fans out there.

The boys have confirmed they’re going to be headlining this year’s iTunes festival. 

The festival, which takes place at Camden’s Roundhouse in London, has seen legendary acts like Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Paul Weller and Oasis headline in the past. No pressure, eh lads?!

Curly-haired cutie Harry Styles couldn’t wait to let the world know how excited he is about playing the festival, where a number of his favourite acts have played in the past.

“We're so happy to be playing at the iTunes Festival this year. Every year we see some of our favourite bands and artists on the bill so to be part of the line-up this year is obviously incredibly exciting and we're hugely grateful for the opportunity. 

“We can't wait to see our fans at the Festival.”

iTunes is different to other festivals because it goes on for 30 days and a different act plays each night. And instead of buying tickets, you have to win them.

The line-up

As well as the 1D fellas being involved, the festival also boasts Usher, Norah Jones and Jack White of The White Stripes as confirmed acts.

Usher will kick things off on September 1.

“I am thrilled to jump start the iTunes Festival in London this year. I am honoured to set the stage for what’s to come.”

Jack White is playing on September 8 and Norah Jones will take to the stage on September 10.

“Can't wait to return to London for the iTunes Festival and play in a venue with such deep history,” Norah said.

“It's great to be on a bill with an amazing range of artists and to be on the same stage on which The Stones, Bowie, The Ramones, The Clash and so many others played.”

Jessica Alba: ‘I felt objectified when I started my acting career’

 

It’s a problem that we're sure many young actresses encounter, but Jessica Alba has been brave enough to admit that she did feel like she was objectified when she started out in her acting career. 

The mother of two has revealed that she was marketed in a sexy way when she landed the lead role in her breakout TV show Dark Angel, 

“I had a show that premiered when I was 19. And right away, everyone formed a strong opinion about me because of the way I was marketed,” the 31-year-old star has told Marie Claire. “I was supposed to be sexy, this tough action girl. That's what people expected.

“I felt like I was being objectified, and it made me uncomfortable,” she continues. “I wanted to be chic and elegant!”

Jess – who is mum to daughters Honor, 4, and Haven, 9 months and is married to Cash Warren – says she has learned to tone down her sexy image, and that she doesn’t dress to impress men,

“Now that I'm older, I've learned how to own it, but I'm still not very overt. There are some women who dress for men. I dress for myself. It took me some time to get here. Being a mum and feeling grown-up have helped.”

In fact, as a busy Hollywood mum, Jess says that her day-to-day fashion choices are now based on what’s practical,

“I’m not going to wear stilettos, for example - even kitten heels are kind of pushing - it during the day. I wear boots, ballet flats and sneakers, but mostly boots. They're stable, easy to wear.”

But Blue Ivy is coming along not only for parents Jay Z and Beyonce to take in some curling and pole-vaulting, but because her A-List 'rents have got work to do over here. 

So much work - his Watch The Throne tour and gig at Radio 1's Big Weekend - her launch of a Beyonce-branded perfume - that they're going to rent out a house here over the summer.

They've put their wear-and-tear deposit down on a townhouse near to showbiz mates Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin because they didn't want to waste all their money on hotels during their stay. The five-bedroom house, which was found by members of her entourage, is also near to other rich-and-famouses Simon Cowell, Richard Branson and Twitter legend Michael Winner. 

A source told The Sun: "Both Jay Z and Beyonce are going to be spending a lot of time in London over the next few months" 

"They wanted to have somewhere more homely now they are parents." 

They're not the only US stars to have made a recent move to Blighty. 

Brad and Angelina have been spotted back in south west London, Kanye West's said to be hiring a whole floor of the Lanesborough Hotel to impress new girlfriend Kim Kardashian and Rihanna's meant to have bought a huge bacherlorette pad in Hoxton!

Simon wants Jonathan and Charlotte to win BGT

Singing duo Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli are hot favourites to win the competition tonight, and apparently Simon Cowell only has eyes for these Britain's Got Talent finalists. 

The teenagers are 11/10 odds to win - they're popular with the British public not only because of their amazing opera singing but because they've shown such a strong, real friendship.

Simon tried to separate the two after their first audition, but Jonathan insisted that he would only continue in the competition if he could do so by Charlotte's side. 

A spokesperson for Ladbrokes told The Metro: "It's been one-way traffic for them throughout the series and we cannot see past a victory for the pair." 

Simon agrees, and thinks the teenagers have got the lung-power to beat even the biggest contenders in music. According to The Sun's source: "Simon knows they will sell a huge number of records."

"They could even go on to beat Susan Boyle - and she's sold millions. This year his excitement levels are off the scale. He's watched as Jonathan and Charlotte have taken the country by storm." 

The mole added: "He knows that opera is a big seller, especially if people like the person singing it."

And Simon's actually coming round to the idea of Jonathan being in a duet with Charlotte: "I think they've got a big, big chance of selling records all over the world. They're amazing singers. I'm particularly impressed with how Charlotte has improved."

"I'm not sure anything will ever be as big as Susan but I certainly believe an American audience will like them both."
