ASHTON Kutcher is the spitting image of a young Steve Jobs in the first pictures to appear from the set of a new film about the late Apple founder.

The Two and a Half Men star is currently shooting scenes for the biopic about the technology legend, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer aged 56 last October.

And dressed casually in a black polo neck jumper, jeans and trainers, Kutcher appears to have the businessman's trademark look down to a tee as he grabs a coffee on his way to the film studio.

A short beard and long brown hair helps complete the transformation, and he looks uncannily similar to Jobs during the seventies, the decade Apple was launched.

The star, who is best known for his comedy roles, will be hoping to silence critics who think he’s too lightweight an actor for such a prestigious part.

Simply titled "Jobs" and set for release next year, the film will chart Steve's life from "from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time".

Many thought it was a joke when Kutcher, 34, was announced as the lead in the biopic last month.

But the film’s producer, Mark Hulme said he is the perfect choice, partly because of his striking physical similarities to the businessman.

He said: “'Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20s, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time, but also the psychological complexity."

Kutcher, who's reported to be dating his former co-star from That 70s Show, Mila Kunis, has just renewed his contract for another series of hit US comedy Two and a Half Men.

He will receive a pay rise that takes him up to $700,000 (£440,000) per episode.
